Avoid Procrastination by Acting Quickly

Here's a little "incident" that happened to our family over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Of course, you cannot anticipate all of life's little bugaboos but you CAN learn from them and put safeguards in place to prevent them from happening again. Hope you had a great Fourth of July weekend! My wife Cathy and the oldest stepson headed to our Vermont lakehouse for the holiday weekend for a little R & R. Nothing like getting away from the computer and doing some other things like reading a novel, swimming, biking and walking in the beautiful countryside of VT. We did receive one odd phone message late Saturday from our neighbor but did not have their number in our cell phones and it's an unlisted number. Shortly after we arrived home our neighbors notified us that the police were at our house Saturday evening but all she saw were them taking out something in a plastic bag that appeared to be black. Needless to say, Cathy and I were concerned as we left the middle son at home where he was spending time with his girlfriend. We kept calling the middle son to find out what happened but could not reach him. Now we were REALLY concerned. Well, we finally found out what was in that black bag. It was a BAT. Man, were we relieved :-) Seems a bat got into the house and one of our kitties attacked it. So the smart teenagers called the police as they thought the bat could be rabid and the police removed it for testing. The lesson here? Sometimes these little dramas DO happen but we did wish we had a few more up-to-date telephone numbers in our cell phones. So we went ahead and entered them. We didn't wait. Just did it immediately. So next time an incident happens (be it work or home) try to implement safeguards ASAP to prevent it from happening next time rather than "I'll do it next week" If you don't I guarantee you'll forget in a few days. Learning then acting quickly is often the best strategy.
